MAAT OEM

Libraries for DSP & Measurement of Digital Audio

MAAT’s family of intellectual property and white label products are the fastest way to better sound. Whether it’s our world famous equalizers, our precision measurement tools, or our LIN and DRi libraries ready for integration, let us help you reduce development time while controlling costs and improving your products.

Equalizer OEM Developer Kits

Would your product or service benefit from equalizers befitting your brand? Would your customers enjoy better sounding personalization that allows them to control their own vibe?

Our EQ portfolio ranges from low latency, low CPU utilization versions to no–compromise code that embodies the highest fidelity possible in the digital domain. Whether you’re looking for the best FIR or IIR EQs available, or simply an improved version of the equalizer you have now, we have solutions that we know you’ll find to be exceptional.

The Algorithmix Foundation

Every equalizer in our portfolio descends from the research of Dr. Christoph Musialik, who spent years in deep analysis of the finest hardware equalizers. His research was not just theoretical, it was informed by real world implementations for Studer, Cadac, SSL, and other leading lights of our industry. The result is not modeling or simulation — no added noise, distortion, or inherited analog baggage — but true high resolution emulation: idealized digital implementations that outperform their analog antecedents in every measurable dimension, while preserving the musicality that made those originals legendary. All of our thEQ algorithms leverage that Algorithmix legacy, with 80 bit internal precision. They deliver THD+N well below 24 bit quantization noise, and support sample rates from 44.1 kHz through 384 kHz for HRA and game audio workflows.

Minimum Phase IIR

Musical, versatile, CPU–efficient, our minimum phase IP encompasses the most complete collection of classic analog equalizer architectures ever assembled into a single codebase. Twelve distinct EQ personalities — ten serial and two parallel — span Classic Symmetrical, Proportional, Constant–Q, Parallel Feed–Forward/Feedback topologies, along with unique and proprietary topologies found nowhere else. This IP is available in three tiers:

  • A full–featured expression with twelve filter sections, per–section panorama control, live spectrogram, frequency snapping, and optional FiDef® psychoacoustic enhancement — suited to professional mixing and mastering applications.
  • A resource–efficient expression with a streamlined section count and reduced feature surface, optimized for products where CPU headroom, low latency, and ease of integration are priorities. This is the right choice for consumer personalization features, hardware DSP targets, and high channel count mixing environments.
  • A bespoke implementation unique to your application and needs, accommodating your hardware and memory requirements while exposing only the user controls you require.

Linear phase FIR

Transparency without compromise— For applications demanding absolute phase coherence and freedom from transient smear, our benchmark linear phase EQ code sets the standard. The time–domain, two pass LP implementation is optimized for equalizing without leaving any sonic fingerprint. Processing artifacts fall well below –100dBFS.

Another linear phase implementation is tuned for aesthetic work, providing the artistic equalization that nudges material into sounding better without disturbing the time domain. Our frequency–domain LP codebase features VariSlope™, a proprietary filter technology enabling continuous shelf and cut slopes from near 0 to 24 dB per octave, including response shapes impossible to achieve with any classical filter design.

Together, these two linear phase engines address every FIR use case. Combined with our minimum phase IIR offerings, MAAT’s EQ IP covers the full universe of professional equalizer requirements — from the lightest consumer touch to the most uncompromising mastering chain.

LIN OEM Developer Kit

Better DSP starts with better dither…Does your product perform DSP on audio, even something as simple as gain? If so, you need to redither, and better dithering starts with better algorithms.

LIN OEM incorporates a newly developed dither engine based on the current understanding of psychoacoustics, information theory and audio production best practices. As with other members of MAAT’s product family, extensive research and its double precision DSP architecture contribute to its uncompromising quality. The technology can be integrated into applications and utilities for macOS, Linux and Windows operating systems.

Although dithering is usually considered an automatic function that can be ignored without consequence, quality–conscious engineers know that redithering prior to delivery is the last opportunity to define the quality of their product. LIN OEM includes seven modern choices for optimal noise shaping. Four of those options are derived from the most recent thinking in psychoacoustically optimized 5th, 8th and 9th order shapes.

DRi is the Subjective Dynamics standard

DRi OEM Developer Kit

Does your product or service display a “Dynamic Range,” “DR” or “Loudness” metric? DRi is the standard for subjective dynamic range, and MAAT is the sole provider of DR Dynamic Range functionality.

DRi or Integrated DR is the de facto metric for measurement of subjective dynamic range for consumers and engineers. When you see integer “DR” values, you’re not looking at crest factor, PLR (Peak–to–Loudness Ratio) or other measurement methods that do not correlate well with subjective loudness. Unlike ITU-R BS.1770, EBU R 128 and other modern, mandated Loudness measurement methods designed for automated loudness control, DR (Dynamic Range) is specifically formulated to measure dynamic range and subjective loudness in a way that we humans can relate to. Hundreds of thousands of audio enthusiasts agree: DRi is better .

How?

  • Unlike crest factor or PLR, DRi is standardized.
  • As an integer, DRi is easy to read, comprehend, and compare.
  • DRi is used by tens of thousands of engineers and music enthusiasts worldwide.

MAAT’s DRi library is integration–ready for rapid implementation. DRi technology can be easily integrated into applications and utilities for macOS, Windows, and Linux operating systems.

Testimonial

Timo Wildenhain, Head of Professional Audio at Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH, on LIN OEM…

Wildenhain is dedicated to functionality and fidelity, shepherding their pro business into a worldwide phenomenon. “We have chosen LINpro dithering for our high-end mastering software WaveLab Pro 11 (and Cubase Pro 12) because we didn’t want to make any compromises regarding sound quality and ease of use.” His opinion is unequivocal. “LIN is simply the best dithering on the market.”
